Daytrippin’ is the only way to exist in Vancouver. God bless us all for the ridiculous helping of beauty at our disposal without even leaving the city. Saturdays (Sundays, Holidays, ‘sick’ days) were designed for hiking around the city and digesting a healthy fix of Mother nature. Sure, you’ll take snacks, but there are also some pretty tasty places you could pick up an awesome meal on your way out for a day trip.
Stanley Park
Stanley Park hosts an abundance of outdoor activity, from endless green space, golf and beaches (everyone requires beach time). The quantity of picnic spots, lakeside or forest covered will last you a decade of weekends, which is way too long to eat the same type of cold turkey sandwiches (is that a challenge?). Cafe Phin and Pho offer awesome Bahn Mi for you to take on your day-venture.
Grouse Grind
If anyone needed a single reason as to why they find it impossible not to stay active while residing in Vancouver, it would have to be The Grouse Grind. The 2.9km trail takes you straight up the face of the mountain, but alternatively, you can take The Skyride to reach the top faster. There are loads of ways to enjoy the mountain, including breakfasting with actual bears, which sounds too good. Picking up burritos from La Taqueria on the way to the shuttle is a pretty good day plan.
Jericho Beach Park
When you leave in Vancouver, you don’t really need to leave the city to absorb nature anyway. Jericho Beach Park give you literally every decent view you could ever want. Like, why go anywhere else ever. Jericho Beach Park Basil Pasta Bar is super affordable and tasty. The carbs will do you well if you fancy sailing.
Wreck Beach
Clothing is optional, food is not. Feel the freedom on a beach where you don’t have to wear clothes — it’s a real experience and a way of life to embrace, helping you grow in confidence. There aren’t many places to eat around Wreck beach so grabbing a burger from Romer’s Burger Bar (West 4th Avenue) is a day trip duty.
